PHILOSOPHY

Graduates of this program will be individuals who will value human life and will use the clinical laboratory science knowledge to maintain and save life. They will be part of the health care teams whose members will work collectively to find solutions to the health problems of individuals. They will be expected to discharge their duties with diligence in the fear of God, and with a sense of commitment to the healing ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.

MISSION

To train technically competent and scientifically innovative clinical laboratory scientists who will serve the people of Kenya and Africa with Christian devotion whether at hospital clinical laboratories, in rural clinics, in government service or private settings.

VISION

To raise the standard and quality of Clinical Laboratory Science training and implementation in Kenya (as an international university) in the African continent

OBJECTIVES

  1. To prepare students to:
  2. Accurately perform all of the laboratory examinations commonly offered by well-equipped hospitals.
  3. Acquire skills in pathological physiology involved in the diseases for which they test in order to increase accuracy in recognizing abnormal results and their possible causes.
  4. Detecting results which may be unreasonable or in error.
  5. Monitoring the course of change in abnormal results in disease or recovery.
  6. Relate to physicians, colleagues, and patients in a professional and ethical manner and exemplify Christian love and service values.
  7. Select, properly use and maintain laboratory equipment and quality control programs.
  8. Demonstrate basic administrative ability in laboratory supervision and Management.
  9. Effectively instruct others in laboratory procedures.
  10. Set up a laboratory in areas where none exists.
  11. Utilize both manual and automated clinical laboratory methods and be innovative and aware of alternative methods to be used when supplies are unavailable
  12. Design, complete and evaluate simple research projects to solve clinical laboratory science problems.
  13. Enter graduate schools specializing in different disciplines of clinical laboratory science.
